In On-Road IoT, Cellocator devices support native third-party input line events and custom event authoring.
You can create an input peripheral, calibrate it, define a custom parameter, assign the peripheral to an input line in a Cellocator mobile device template, and use that parameter as a trigger condition in custom notification and detailed events.
1. Create new input peripheral
- Click Manage.
- Under Config Admin, click Libraries.
- Click the Peripheral library tab.
- Click Add peripheral.
- Enter a mandatory description for the peripheral.
- Choose the peripheral type from the dropdown list.
Parameters represent the values returned by connected devices (e.g. road speed from a speed sender, latitude from a GPS receiver). When adding a new peripheral, if the required parameter does not already exist, you can create one at the same time
- Select an existing parameter name, or check the box to Create new parameter and complete the parameter details.
2. Calibrating the Peripheral
Calibration behavior depends on the input type selected.
- Enter the relevant calibration values, if relevant. The input type determines whether the input reading units of measure are in mV or Hz, etc.
- For Frequency and Pulse types, there is an additional Peripheral Configuration Setting for the tacho resolution, which must be set when creating a custom peripheral.
- Click Save.
!!! note "" Note: When you make a peripheral available on the organization, it also automatically populates the Parameter Library with its associated parameters. These parameters can then be used when defining events (e.g. an over-speeding event that reads the road speed value from a speed sender).
3. Assign the peripheral to an input line in a Cellocator mobile device template
- Click Manage.
- Under Config Admin, click Templates.
- Click on Mobile device template.
- Click on the Cellocator template for which the input line configuration is required.
- Next to the required I line (I1 through I8), click on Not connected.
- In the dropdown, select the peripheral device to be connected to that I line (e.g. anti tamper, blue lights on, Cold chain - temperature sensor, etc.).

Click Save.
If a required peripheral device does not appear in the dropdown list, you may first need to make it available via the Peripheral Library. This is done by finding the peripheral in the library and selecting Make available. You can also refresh the peripheral list.
You can now create a custom notification or detailed event using the parameter as a trigger condition.
