SafeGuard - Cognitive Risk (Overview)
Cognitive Risk shows you the risk events a driver has already generated, so you can trace how each one developed and review the video evidence behind it.
A risk event, also called a risk event cluster, groups together the driving anomalies and risky behaviors that occurred from the start of a risk process to its end. Cognitive Risk lists every risk event generated by the vehicles you have permission to view within the time range you select.
Risk event list
The Cognitive Risk page lists risk events for all vehicles you can access, most recent first.
To find a specific event:
- Filter the list by License Plate, Risk Level, Driver Name, or Risk Time.
- Click Details in the Action column to open the event.
The Risk Level column shows the highest risk level the event reached, not its level at the start.
Risk event details
The details page breaks down a single risk event.
Basic information
The header shows:
- License Plate: the vehicle that generated the risk event.
- Risk Level: the highest risk level the event reached.
- Driver Name: the driver who generated the event.
- Event Favorites: whether the event is saved to your Favorites.
Risk curve
The risk curve traces how risk changed across the event. A rising curve means risk increased, a falling curve means it decreased. Alarm bells mark the points where SafeGuard raised an alarm, and behavioral events appear along the horizontal axis.
When an event contains many behavioral events, SafeGuard aggregates them by default and shows a count instead of individual icons.
To inspect the curve:
- Zoom in on the curve to expand the aggregated behavioral events and show their times on the horizontal axis.
- Click a behavioral event icon on the horizontal axis to open its underlying data.
Behavior event types
Risk assessment currently applies these behavioral events:
- Harsh acceleration
- Harsh deceleration
- Sharp turning
- Forward collision
- Eye closure
- Yawning
- Looking down
- Pedestrian collision
- Lane keeping
- Following too closely
Behavior event details
Clicking a behavioral event icon restores the data captured for that behavior.
For a forward collision behavior, the data includes:
- Start time, end time, and duration of the behavior.
- Vehicle speed at the start and at the end of the behavior.
- Minimum distance to the vehicle ahead in the same lane.
- Minimum relative collision time with the vehicle ahead in the same lane.
- Number of vehicles identified on the road ahead during the behavior.
- How long the driver had been driving continuously when the behavior occurred.
- Speed change during, before, and after the behavior.
- Change in distance to the vehicle ahead during, before, and after the behavior.
Alarm evidence
When SafeGuard raises an alarm, you can open the evidence and the map for that alarm.
The evidence view shows:
- The alarm evidence itself, which depends on your evidence configuration.
- The behavioral events on the timeline, matched to the corresponding frames in the video.
- The speed change across the video.
- The driver's trajectory on the map at the time of the alarm, with risky sections distinguished from normal ones.
Save a risk event to Favorites
Save typical or especially severe events so you can reuse them for coaching and training.
- Open the risk event details page.
- Click Favorites to bookmark the event.
- Open the Favorites center to retrieve saved events later.
To remove an event, click Derecognize on the risk event details page.
