If enabled, Live tracking can fall back to the position from a paired VisionAI camera when the primary MiX4000 stops reporting.
Unity can now use this secondary source position when a vehicle's primary device stops reporting, keeping the asset live on the map, whilst clearly labelling the position as a secondary source.
How the fallback works
- Live tracking shows the primary position while the MiX 4000 reports regularly.
- When the primary position is older than 45 seconds, for example when the asset is out of coverage, live tracking shows the VisionAI position instead.
- The Source field shows "Secondary" while the VisionAI position is displayed
- When the MiX4000 reports a fresh position, live tracking switches back to the primary position and removes the "Secondary" label.
- The asset's moving or stationary state is based on one source only, either primary or secondary.
To enable this, check the new Enable Secondary Source Position checkbox in the MiX 4000 mobile device template configuration, near the AVL settings. It is not checked by default, and assets without it checked do not fall back to the VisionAI camera position.
Check the position source
- In On-Road IoT, click Monitor.
- Under Tracking, click Live tracking.
- Hover over the asset on the map.
- Check the Source field.
The Source field appears in the position tooltip, the asset info panel, live tracking in a new window, the multiple assets window, and live share.
The Source field does not appear in Easy Track.
Please note that no Source label shows while the primary position is displayed.
