When you use your VisionAI Enterprise (Streamax) cameras as onboard computers, meaning the camera is the tracking device, you can set up facial recognition as a form of identifying the driver.
The service can only be used when using VisionAI Enterprise in standalone mode as described above AND when customers will only use the VisionAI 360 application and not On-Road IoT features.
The facial recognition service is a server-side capability.
The functionality works with either the built-in in-cab (DSC) camera on the AD Plus 2.0 or the DMS camera. For M1N deployments, the recommended approach is to use the DMS camera as the in-cab camera may not be installed in the centre of the windscreen.
Requirements:
- Your fleet needs to be enabled for facial recognition. The facial recognition service is enabled (per customer) by the global Tier 3 support team upon request. This will include assigning user permissions to the module for driver ID administration.
- A fleet admin user must have access to “Driver Identification > Unknown Driver Processing” to process the drivers.
- Use a device with an In-Cab or DMS camera.
Once enabled, the customer will be given access to initially manually associate driver names (sync’d from On-Road IoT) to their images. Once this is done, all matched drivers are then automatically identified by the system.
Create drivers and link images
1. Create your drivers in On-Road IoT. (Driver and asset data is synced to VisionAI 360 every hour on the hour.)
- You can complete only the required fields, enter a name.
- Select a site.
- Click Save.
2. Link your drivers' images in VisionAI 360 to their driver Names by following these steps:
Only new drivers that have not been manually associated before will be highlighted to the administrator for matching.
- In the Unity portal, click VisionAI 360.
- Click Insights.
- In the right-hand menu, click Analytics.
- Click Driver Profile.
- Click Link to driver:
- Find the relevant driver's name in the dropdown list:
- Click Save.
3. The driver's image will now be associated with the completed trips.
IMPORTANT NOTES
A driver synchronisation runs to sync assets and drivers created in On-road IoT with the VisionAI 360 application to eliminate the manual setup of organizations, sites, assets and drivers in VisionAI 360.
Drivers cannot be created directly in VisionAI 360. They must be set up in On-Road IoT first.
The facially recognized Driver ID data is ONLY used in the VisionAI 360 application and is NOT integrated back into On-road IoT to feed live screens and reporting (even though trip data is).
Facial recognition is carried out using the DMS or DSC camera.
