Subject: Instructions for deploying the Citrix Native Client in place of the Java Client.
Problem: After necessary updating of our SSL Certificates, users with older versions of Java deployed are receiving an error when attempting to launch.
Correction:
Resolution of this issue may be as simple as clearing your internet history. However, it may require that you either update Java or, instead, deploy the Citrix Native client.
To Clear Internet History:
- Launch Microsoft Internet Explorer.
- Click on the Tools menu or settings.
- Click Internet Options.
- Under “Browsing history,” click on the Delete button.
- Select Temporary Internet Files and History.
- Click on the Delete button.
- Close all Internet Explorer screens and reopen Internet Explorer.
- Verify that you are able to launch Citrix.
To Resolve Java Issue, Upgrade Java and Clear Internet History:
- First, you need to know what other applications, if any, where the Java client is being used other than Vision. In none, proceed to Step 2. If other applications are using Java, stop and find out what versions they support before proceeding. You may be required to deploy the Native Client.
- Check the version of Java installed. Those reporting the issue have version 7 or lower. Version 8 (current is version 8 build 121) is required. It can be installed from one of the links below, depending upon the operating system (from the Start menu, right click on the (My) Computer, choose Properties and look for System Type):
- Once installed, launch the Configure Java application found in the Java program folder and update the Exception Site List to include https://vmsapps.id-systems.com.
To Deploy the Citrix Native Client:
- Once logged into Citrix, click on Settings.
- Once there, click on the Change Client button.
- From here, select the Native Client option. However, more than likely you will need to install or obtain and install the Native client in order to deploy it. If so, it’s easiest to click Deploy. If not, skip to Step 7.
- Launch the shortcut and then click Open, found at the bottom of the screen. If Vision launches without issue you are done. If you are not presented with this option, proceed to Step 5.
- Check the box to agree and click Install (or click here to download).
- Be on the lookout for the installation requiring user interaction and click Run if necessary.
- Once the installation completes – likely requiring a few more mouse clicks – begin these steps again from the beginning.
- Select the Native Client option and click Save.
- Now, once you double-click your Vision shortcut, you will be prompted to open the “launch.ica” EVERY TIME.
Notes:
- The Vision login process will remain the same with the Native Client.
- Complete Settings should be as follows:
