Event Time for an asset or event refers to the date and time an activity record was generated by an asset's tracking device. The difference between Event Time and Report Time is the amount of time that passed between the activity being logged by a device and communicated to the VeriWise website. The difference between Event Time and GPS Time is the amount of time that an asset had remained idle at the time of a given event.
For non-Fleetview 3 (FV3) and Reefer Control (GSM-D200) devices, Event Time should normally be within 10 minutes of Report Time for each event record, unless an asset originally attempted to report an event while out of cellular coverage. In those cases, the device will store the event until it is able to complete a call, and the difference between Event Time and Report Time will roughly measure the amount of time that the asset remained out of coverage.
For Fleetview 3 and Reefer Control devices, which do not immediately communicate event reports for all activity, there may be an hour or more difference between the Event Time and the Report Time for an individual event, depending on the event type and the device's reporting settings.
Fleetview 3 event types configured with the "Log" setting will be stored until the next real-time event is generated by a device, then delivered attached to that message.
Reefer Control devices with the refrigeration unit turned off will only report hourly starting after one day of inactivity from the reefer. When the reefer is turned on, the device will resume real-time reporting.
