A server-side geofence uses a device’s existing reporting profile configuration in combination with one or more specified landmark boundaries from the VeriWise website to escalate certain event types into alert email notifications based on the activity taking place inside or outside of the specified landmarks.
Server-side geofences do not require any special reporting configuration to be applied to a device to determine if defined event types, including Landmark Entry and Landmark Exit, need to be escalated as alerts based on whether they have taken place inside or outside of selected landmarks. When a server-side geofence subscription is set up, the VeriWise system analyzes each message received from the assets associated to the geofence, and if the event type and location conditions match the rule parameters, immediately generates an email notification to specified recipients of the exception taking place. Events of the same type that do not qualify within the enabled subscription parameters will not result in delivery of email alerts.
Because all location analysis is performed by the VeriWise server rather than the device, an unlimited number of landmark boundaries may be used for exception event location analysis.
