Permission: You will need the "Inspection step library" permission to access this feature. To add inspection steps, you need the create permission. The update permission allows you to make changes to steps.
The inspection step library contains all the checks to be used in the Inspection template. An inspection template contains all the questions that the fleet manager want to apply to the device when the drivers do their checks.
The library allows consistency of the steps, terminology and specific inspection requirements.
Vehicle inspection steps and templates are managed on an organizational level and are available to all sites in the organization.
- On-Road IoT: Click Monitor | Unity portal: Click Fleet health
- Under Maintenance, click Inspection step library.
You will notice default steps. These steps cannot be deleted but can be duplicated and then edited.
- To create a new step, click the plus icon in the top right corner:
- Enter a unique step name.
- Choose a step type, i.e. "Pass / Fail" (where the driver will then select if the check has passed or failed inspection and will be shown as
or
in the mobile app.) or "Question with a free text field" that will allow the driver to enter an answer to a question.
- In the Step description box, you can give a detailed optional explanation or instruction of what needs to be checked, what the deciding factors would be to constitute a pass or fail, etc.
- Choose the Criticality rating from the dropdown list. Critical steps will cause a vehicle to be deemed as “Not safe to operate” and trigger certain notifications to the manager. Minor steps will not prevent the driver from using the vehicle but will be noted to the workshop. When you select a free text response, the criticality field will be disabled because a text response does not qualify a pass or fail.
- Choose is the step must be mandatory or optional. An optional step will not force the driver to provide an answer before submitting the inspection. Mandatory steps need to be answered before a checklist can be completed.
- You can request that the driver always take and submit a photo or only when when a step has failed or leave this as optional.
- Under comments, you can also ask the driver to always add a comment or only when a step has failed or again leave it as optional.
- Click Save.
Your new step will now be available in the step library and can be added to an Inspection template.
