Electric vehicles report a different data set than combustion vehicles.
This solution is supported on the MiX 4000/MiX 6000/MiX 6000 LTE.
Read Enable Electric Vehicle (EV) functionality for Ford OEM assets.
To surface electric vehicle data in the relevant reports (Detailed Trip and Daily Trip reports), the EV CAN scripts must be made available in the peripheral library.
Please note some new electric assets may not have scripts yet and that this will need to be developed.
- In On-Road IoT, click Manage.
- Under Config admin, click Libraries.
- Click the Peripheral library tab on the left.
- Search for the electric vehicle CAN script.
- Click the three-dots action menu next to the relevant row and select Make available.
Connect your CAN script to your C1 line using the mobile device template. Connect the CAN Energy logical to your fuel line:
- Click Manage.
- Under Config admin, click Templates.
- Click on the Mobile device templates tab on the left.
- Search for the relevant mobile device template.
- Click the template name or click the downwards action arrow and select Edit.
- Scroll to the line connections and click on the "Not connected" text next to C1.
- Search for and select the relevant electric vehicle CAN script.
- Click Save.
- Click on "Not connected" next to the fuel line.
- Search for and select the energy logical (e.g. J1708/CAN - Energy (Extended Device)) from the dropdown list. (The electric vehicle trip related parameters are attached to this logical).
- Click Save.
- Compile and upload config.
Electric vehicle data can be seen on the Detailed Trip report and the Daily Trip report.
Important
Data will not be visible on the Electronic Fleet - Operations module if the customers' electric vehicles are not using the latest scripts. (These scripts were updated in February 2023 with new parameters that must be included). The latest available script with the new parameters must always be uploaded to the asset config.
For reference, all scripts should include these parameters:
- System.FM.CAN.EBIEN EV CAN: Battery current charge power
- System.FM.CAN.EVRNG EV CAN: Vehicle range remaining
- System.FM.CAN.EVSOH EV CAN: State of health
