Please check with your corresponding RSO first before upgrading to a new version of firmware.
The purpose of this release is primarily to support the next generation MiX 4000 hardware using Quectel modems.
This firmware is also backward compatible with all legacy hardware versions of the MiX 4000.
In addition, this release contains a fix to prolong the life of the modem on MiX44MC-3G units already in the field.
New features and fixes
- Support for additional baud rates added to scriptable CAN.
- Support for new Quectel Cat 1 and Cat M1 modem options with TI Bluetooth only.
- Support added for alternative TI Bluetooth chip as a manufacturing option.
- Preparations were made for continued operation post the 3G sunset in the US.
- Modem details and Iridium network coverage details were added as diagnostics options.
- Changes were made to APNs for Telenor and Nigeria networks.
- Improvements were made to the circle location handling to ensure a circle location represents a circle instead of an ellipse at certain latitude/longitude locations.
- Config enhancements around the maximum number of acronyms managed and internal improvements around caching.
- Ensure that GPS starts up reliably after external power recovers from dipping below 6.5V.
- Config loading improvements were made in the event of a device reset occurring before the config is applied.
- Config engine now latches GPS location when evaluating geolocation events.
- GSM back-off is now capped to 5 minutes if the vehicle is traveling above 30km/h.
- Improvements in managing Iridium modems interaction to avoid requiring an OBC reset to restore Iridium comms.
- Limited modem resets on Ublox U201 (3G) to once every 2 hours to mitigate against modem bugs that could cause premature flash failure.
- Limited the GSM back-off on LTE units that have yet to commission to avoid delays when working through multiple APN entries.
- Improvement to eliminate excessive event reporting under specific circumstances.
- Odometer derived from a DTCO device now reports correctly.
- Odometer is now displayed correctly on the Rovi IV.
- SAT AVLs will be attempted over GPRS first.
- Various improvements around internal error logging.
- Addressed multiple GPRS status issues that could have resulted in comms delays.
Remember that you need to upgrade MiX TechTool before the firmware is upgraded since you can only use the MiX 4000 firmware version 4.10.8 with the latest MiX TechTool version 22.4 and onwards.
