The CAN script interacts with the Controller Area Network (CAN) bus. CAN scripts are required to configure some mobile devices to extract specific parameters such as speed, RPM, and fuel data from the vehicle’s electronic systems. CAN scripts were previously located in the peripheral library.
- In On-Road IoT, click Manager.
- Under Config admin, click Libraries.
- Make sure you are on the CAN library tab on the left.
- Search for a specific CAN script by entering text in the search bar at the top.
- You can make the CAN script available for your organization by clicking on the three dots menu and selecting Make available.
- Click on the name of the script to view the properties or change any of the parameters, to set calibration, etc.
An info icon next to the script name will show where the script is used in the current organization, i.e. in mobile templates or assets with the script as an override. The icon will only be displayed when the script is used in the current organization in a template or as an overridden script. Note that the info icon can take 10 to 15 minutes to show after the script has been added to a template.
Clicking the icon creates a pop-up, showing the details of the script connections:
- The “Not for FM” column will show a checkmark next to scripts containing additional parameters that the FM device does not support. This is not a default column and can be added from the column chooser.
