You can also request high resolution MiX Vision AI video from the Tracking screens or Save MiX Vision AI video footage to your computer.
Permissions: You will need the access permission Video download request.
- Click Monitor.
- Under Activity timeline, click Trip timeline.
- Choose if you want to view the timeline for a driver or asset by clicking the relevant icon at the top of the screen next to the Trip timeline heading.
- Select the driver or asset by clicking on the arrow next to the organization or site selector.
- Click on the trip to highlight the part you want to get video from. You can see if there is video available for the event when looking at the event list below.
- Click on the downward actions arrow to the right.
- Select Download video.
- Select the time period you want to download the video for - the duration is fixed at two and a half minutes (2:30).
Note that you can only view custom clips for the last 7 days when using AI cameras. The limit for first-generation video solutions (Cathexis) is 30 days.
Availability of HD video depends on the size of the SD card installed in the device. A 32 GB SD card provides approximately 4 hours of ignition time for historical data retrieval, while a 64 GB SD card stores about 9 hours. This means that if your device is permanently powered on, you may not be able to retrieve footage from 2 days ago, for example..
- Select which cameras you want to download video from, e.g. road camera, in-cab camera, driver camera. If multiple channels are requested, the videos are not combined - individual video files are returned for each channel.
- Choose if you want to download the standard or high-resolution video footage if applicable.
- Click Submit.
The tacho block for that time period will now be highlighted in orange to indicate that a video clip has been requested.
When a request is successful, an email will be sent with the download links for the videos. If the video is no longer available on the camera (if the buffer has been overwritten and the video is no longer available) it will be highlighted in the email.
Emails are processed once the vehicle is in trip again.
There are three types of emails that can be returned, based on the outcome of the video clip request:
- An email with a link to the video. If you requested videos for multiple channels you will receive one email with all the links to the channels.
- That the video clip is not available. See more below.
- That the download video request was unsuccessful, but that you can attempt to request it again.
You can also save and download videos to your computer for future use and easy access.
Why is the email saying that the requested video is not available?
The email will notify you if the video is no longer available. This usually happens if the video was overwritten, the card was changed or a request was made for a camera that is not actually connected.
In some edge cases, the email you receive may notify you that the video is not available. This happens when your download video request was unsuccessful and the email will prompt you to please request it again. This happens because the camera was either offline for the entire duration of the request period, or it was not online for long enough to download the requested videos.
